Elizabeth Dillinger - Nov 19th meeting

Elizabeth Dillinger was invited to Niagara Heritage to bring her trunk show and do a workshop for our members. She arrived in St. Catharines on a very snowy day - lucky she didn't have to go to south Niagara or Buffalo - probably would have been cancelled. But she made it and what a show!

A tribute to Canada

Her trunk show showed her progression of her quilting/art over the years after she moved to Canada from Maine. She likes to think of herself as one who works outside the box, loves to use threads to enhance her work.

While Elizabeth showed her quilts, she always showed the backs of them - her more recent pieces were almost as good as the fronts.

Many of her pieces have been entered into juried shows - the latest being to Houston.
And a few have won awards - no wonder - simply amazing work!
Elizabeth designs fabric and patterns for Cantik Batiks.
Some guild members benefited from her expertise with threadwork when they took her workshop Thursday.

Help Wanted

During the day of November 19th, members are encouraged to come to Merritton Community Centre between 10am and 4 pm to help prepare the quilt tops that were made last year as part of the Community Outreach program for the guild.

Workers on quilts last year

Anyone wishing to help can show up at any time, with their sewing machine and all the extras that you need to do this job (and probably a lunch).

We're hoping to get these tops ready for long arm quilting. Then they'll need binding.
There's always a home for this quilts
