History of the Guild

Niagara Heritage Quilters' Guild started with its first meeting on Dec. 3, 1980 at the St. Catharines Library. 36 women signed up that night to become its Charter Members. Many others have signed up after this. A full executive headed by Margaret Walpole (as President)  continued with the mandate to provide a venue for the quilters in the Niagara Region.

In 1982 NHQG held their first quilt show headed by Nina Stahlschmidt May 8-9, 1982 at the Jordan Arena.
